March 25, 2013 - 1:05 am
Jake Romanski was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to give San Diego State a 5-4 victory Sunday over the UNLV baseball team.
The Aztecs (12-12, 4-2 Mountain West) won two of three over the weekend from the Rebels (17-7, 2-4).
UNLV held a 4-3 lead entering the ninth. Brady Zuniga (1-1) got the first out, but gave up two walks sandwiched around a single to load the bases. A ground ball tied the score, and after an intentional walk reloaded the bases, Zuniga hit Romanski to end the game.
Joey Armstrong and Collin Yelich each had two hits for the Rebels.
UNLV finishes the road trip with one game at the University of San Diego at 6 p.m. today.
■ TRACK — Adrianna Oliva won the shot put with a mark of 45 feet, 1 inch, and UNLV’s 4x800 relay team finished in 9 minutes, 21.04 seconds, to give the Rebels two victories at the Pasedena Games in Pasadena, Calif.
UNLV had 19 individuals and two relays finish eighth or better at the event.
