UNLV women’s golf team third after first round of NCAA regional

Dana Finkelstein shot a 1-over-par 72 to help the UNLV women’s golf team to third place after the first round of the 18-team NCAA St. George Regional on Thursday in St. George, Utah.

Finkelstein, a senior ranked 20th nationally by GolfStat, is in a five-way tie for fourth place. California’s Pauline Loulier, the lone player to shoot under par, is three strokes ahead of the field at 3-under 68.

Southern California leads at 4-over 288, followed by Cal (293), UNLV (301) and Wisconsin (303).

Also for UNLV, freshman Mackenzie Rain is tied for 11th at 74, sophomore Avery French tied for 32nd at 77, senior Mayko Chwan Wang tied for 39th at 78, and freshman Harley Dubsky tied for 48th at 79 in the 96-player field.
