UNLV women’s tennis posts strong day in home tourney

The UNLV women's tennis team got a big day from its top two singles players, who won their Flight One semifinal matches Saturday in the UNLV Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Lucia Batta beat Auburn's Pleun Burgmans 6-2, 6-1, and Aleksandra Josifoska rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Texas Tech's Rashmi Teltumbde. Since Batta and Josifoska are on the same team, they will finish the event as co-champions.

UNLV's Iren Kotseva reached the Flight Three final, and Anett Ferenczi-Bako and Ella Bourchier won their semis to finish as Flight Four co-champions.

■ VOLLEYBALL - At Boise, Idaho, UNLV let a 2-0 set lead evaporate, but held off host Boise State in five sets, 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 19-25, 16-14.

Madeline Westman had 21 kills and Sekola Falemaka 20 for the Rebels (9-5, 2-0 Mountain West Conference), Allison Davies had 18 digs, and Kinsey Caldwell had 55 assists.
