UNLV’s Josifoska shines in singles, doubles at ITA women’s tennis tourney

UNLV women's tennis player Aleksandra Josifoska went 2-0 Tuesday to open qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Josifoska beat Depaul's Jasmine Kling 6-2, 6-0, then beat Georgia's Lauren Herring, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Nives Pavlovic lost her two matches, in the first round and the consolation bracket. In doubles, Josifoska and Pavlovic won their first-round match 9-7 over North Carolina's Caroline Price and Whitney Kay.
■ MEN'S TENNIS - UNLV's Ace Matias and Bernard Schoeman beat Michigan State's Drew Lied and Aaron Pfister 8-5 in doubles qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Tamas Batyi went 0-2, losing his doubles match with teammate Johannes Markel and his consolation singles match.
