Rebels ready for Lumberjacks

The Rebels took the floor at 7 p.m. tonight for their third game of the season. The opponent is Northern Arizona of the Big Sky Conference.
Last season, UNLV won 83-74 in Flagstaff. The Rebels now hold a 16-9 lead in the all-time series.
The Lumberjacks are 1-1 on the season, with a win over Haskell and a disappointing loss at Utah Valley State.
Northern Arizona is coached by Mike Adras, a former head coach at Bishop Gorman.
The Rebels are coming off their most impressive half of the season as several backups came alive to help the team pull away from Texas-Pan American on Tuesday night. The unit will again be important as UNLV plays game two of a stretch of four games in seven days.
For the second straight game, a freshman had a breakout performance on Tuesday night. After playing zero minutes in Saturday's opener, DeShawn Mitchell had a game-high 14 points. Oscar Bellfield was the hero of Saturday's season-opening win over San Diego.

Jason McElwain will be honored at halftime of tonight's game.
He is the autistic man who more than two years ago made national headlines when he, as a manager of a high school team, entered a varsity game and scored 20 points in just over four minutes of action.
A tribute will be paid to McElwain and all those in attendance who work with children diagnosed with autism.
McElwain's appearance at the game is the result of a partnership between UNLV athletics and the Clark County School District.

Lopez's letter arrives
The program received its third letter of intent for the 2009-10 season on Monday when Carlos Lopez's letter arrived on Monday.
Lopez is a 6-foot, 11-inch senior forward at Findlay College Prep.
"Carlos has made unbelievable progress over the last three seasons at Findlay Prep," head coach Lon Kruger said in a release. "Coach Peck and Coach Simon have done a terrific job leading his development. He has very good instincts for the game and is a skilled big man."
Lopez is averaging 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in Findlay's two games this year, both victories.
Originally from Lajas, Puerto Rico, he was ranked as the No. 83 prospect in the class of 2009 by Hoop Scoop.
He was a teammate of current Rebel Brice Massamba on last year's FIndlay Prep team that finished 32-1 and lost in the prep school national championship.
Justin Hawkins and Mojave's Anthony Marshall had already signed their commitments.
