Fresno State’s 3s throttle Lady Rebels

The UNLV women's basketball team couldn't recover from 10 first-half 3-pointers by Fresno State, losing 63-45 Saturday in Fresno, Calif.

The game was tied at 20 with five minutes left in the first half, but the Bulldogs went on a 19-3 run that stretched into the second half, going up 39-23.

Fresno State later went on a 19-6 run to take a 58-31 lead with six minutes left.

The Lady Rebels (4-5) shot 26.1 percent in the second half (6-for-23) and 31.1 percent for the game (15-for-48), including 3-for-13 from 3-point range (23.1 percent). Erica Helms was the only UNLV player who scored in double figures, with 15 points.

Jalessa Ross had 16 points to lead Fresno State (7-3), which hit 14 of 36 3-pointers for the game. Joh-Teena Filipe added 15 points for the Bulldogs.

It was UNLV's first road loss in five trips this season.
