Lady Rebels fall short against TCU

The UNLV women's basketball team allowed Texas Christian to finish the game on a 10-4 run, leading to a 68-60 loss by the Lady Rebels on Saturday at Fort Worth, Texas.

UNLV led 29-25 at halftime, but the Horned Frogs opened the second half with an 11-3 surge to go up 36-32. The game stayed tight the rest of the way, with four ties in the next eight minutes.

India Chaney's jumper with 8:26 left gave the Lady Rebels (7-9, 0-2 Mountain West Conference) a 51-49 lead, but TCU followed with a 6-0 run and led thereafter.

Erica Helms scored 13 points for UNLV, Kelli Thompson 11 and Jamie Smith 10.

Helena Sverrisdottir paced TCU (10-6, 2-0) with 24 points.

The Lady Rebels next face San Diego State, returning home to Cox Pavilion for an 8 p.m. game Tuesday.
