Lady Rebels flatten Butler in season opener

Sandrine Nzeukou had 21 points and 15 rebounds, leading the UNLV women's basketball team to a 62-39 season-opening rout of Butler on Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Lady Rebels, playing in the Iowa Hawkeye Challenge, will face Iowa today in the title game.

UNLV went on a 13-0 first-half run to take control and led 33-16 at halftime. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 10 twice in the second half, but UNLV went on a 17-0 tear to take a 62-35 lead with 55 seconds left.

Kelli Thompson had 16 points for UNLV, and Mia Bell added 10 points. Lenita Sanford had nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
