Lady Rebels stun host Iowa to win tournament

Junior guard Kelli Thompson scored 15 of her game-high 26 points during a decisive 21-6 second-half run as the UNLV women's basketball team upset Iowa 69-59 Sunday in the championship game of the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City, Iowa.

Thompson, who hit 10 of 19 shots, was named the tournament's most valuable player. Sandrine Nzeukou added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Lady Rebels (2-0), and Jamie Smith had 12 points and 17 rebounds.

UNLV hammered Iowa on the boards, with a 49-29 rebounding edge.
