SALT LAKE CITY — Oscar Bellfield, Quintrell Thomas and Tre’Von Willis scored 12 points apiece and UNLV coasted to a 78-58 victory over Utah in the Mountain West Conference regular-season finale at the Huntsman Center.
When the season opened in November, UNLV senior Tre’Von Willis was sidelined by a suspension. He hopes to make that chapter of his story forgettable by turning the end into something more memorable.
Tre’Von Willis and Derrick Jasper became friends during their early teenage years. They were “inseparable,” Willis said, and made plans to play basketball together in college.
You want to bottle it. To gently unscrew the top and slowly pour in the fight, the determination, the unselfishness, the hustle, the terrific effort by Quintrell Thomas, the shooting accuracy of Tre’Von Willis, the will not to lose a game in an atmosphere where most teams would fade.
