An opinion poll in October, revealed in an e-mail from the Mountain West Conference, did not cause UNLV coach Lon Kruger to temper his enthusiasm about the months ahead. Media covering the Mountain West picked the Rebels to finish fourth in the 2010-11 season.

Forward Larry Johnson, a two-time All-American, was named UNLV’s No. 1 player on 21 of 25 ballots cast in R-J voting for the basketball program’s top 100 players.

Armon “The Hammer” Gilliam, Years: 1984 to 1987, Career highlights: The 6-foot-9-inch forward/center is seventh with 1,855 points and sixth with 890 rebounds. Only top-10 scorer who played just three seasons.
