FRANK "SPOON" JAMES

YEARS: 1983 TO 1985

Career highlights:

■ Scored 668 points in 67 games for a career scoring average of 10.0.

■ The Rebels went 57-10 and won three games in two NCAA Tournament appearances.

■ A seventh-round pick of the Detroit Pistons in the 1985 NBA Draft.

Quotable: "I honestly believe my brother 'Spoon' was one of the most well-liked Rebels in history. He was warmhearted; he was genuine. And the town loved the game at the time." -- Keith James, UNLV player in 1987-88

After UNLV: Died in June 2008 in a cell at the Las Vegas City Jail. The official cause of death was attributed partly to an enlarged heart.
