Rebels to tip off MWC slate Jan. 5

The UNLV men's basketball team will open Mountain West Conference play in the 2007-08 season Jan. 5 at Colorado State, the school announced Friday.

The Rebels will play again on the road Jan. 12 against Air Force before returning to the Thomas & Mack Center for their home conference opener Jan. 15 against Brigham Young.

At least 20 UNLV games will be televised, with 12 on The Mtn., five on CSTV and three on Versus.

The Rebels' first televised game will be Nov. 13 against Dixie State. Other nonconference televised games include Louisville on Versus, UNR on The Mtn., Texas-El Paso on The Mtn. and Arizona on CSTV.

UNLV is scheduled to have 15 of its 16 MWC games televised through the conference's TV package. The rest of the game times and any additional TV appearances for the season will be released upon confirmation.

The Rebels finished 30-7 last season, won the MWC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 for the first time in 16 seasons. UNLV was 19-1 at home, including a season-closing 17-game winning streak. They were ranked 14th in the nation in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.
