Two tight ends among five recruits set to visit UNLV

Two top-100 tight ends highlight a group of five high school football recruits visiting UNLV this weekend.

D.J. Shields of Bonita Vista Senior High in Chula Vista, Calif., and Alex Young of Central Catholic High in Modesto, Calif., are Scout.com two-star recruits. Scout.com ranks Shields (6 feet 3 inches, 225 pounds) as the nation's No. 77 tight end and Young (6-5, 225) at No. 95.

Shields visited San Diego State last weekend and also has received scholarship offers from New Mexico, Washington State and Texas-El Paso. Young has received offers from UNR and Air Force.

The other players visiting are listed as one-star recruits: offensive lineman Garrett Edgerson (6-3, 270) of Tucson (Ariz.) High Magnet School; offensive lineman Daniel Kaanana (6-5, 280) of Kamehameha High in Kahuku, Hawaii; and safety Beau Orth (6-0, 201) of Bishop Gorman High.

Kaanana will visit Hawaii next weekend, and Orth has an offer from UNR.
