UNLV soccer: Women, men notch victories

Dakota Blazak scored two first-half goals to help the UNLV women’s soccer team to a 3-1 win over Eastern Washington on Sunday in the UNLV Invitational at Johann Memorial Field.

Susie Bernal scored in the final six minutes, and Sophie Cortes and Jordan Magnin each had an assist for the Rebels (4-0), who had an 18-8 edge in shots.

* MEN: At Richmond, Va., freshman midfielder Timo Mehlich scored his first collegiate goal in the 14th minute of overtime to send UNLV to a 2-1 victory over Virginia Commonwealth. Danny Musovski scored the other goal for the Rebels (1-1) and assisted on Mehlich’s tally. Nathan Bohm had four saves for UNLV, which held a 14-11 edge in shots.
