The Rebels aren’t coming back for the rest of 2020.
The Rebels paused in-person team activities Tuesday, and their first Mountain West basketball series at Wyoming on Sunday and Dec. 22 was postponed.
Another positive COVID-19 test for the Rebels led to another canceled game.
The Rebels will play for the first time in nine days Monday against Pepperdine after a positive COVID-19 test forced the team to cancel a game last week.
Knights coach Pete DeBoer said he’s excited about the addition of Alex Pietrangelo and thinks he can find playing time for Robin Lehner and Marc-Andre Fleury in the net.
UNLV junior guard Bryce Hamilton is a natural scorer, but he’s improving in other aspects of his game, such as rebounding, passing and defense.
The UNLV men’s game against Eastern Washington on Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Center has been canceled after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19.
David Jenkins Jr. scored 25 points and UNLV men’s basketball won its first game of the season.
The Rebels are still adjusting to the lack of atmosphere at their games this season, as are many other programs around the country.
The Lady Rebels added a game against first-year coach Lindy La Rocque’s alma mater Saturday.
The Rebels finished last at the eight-team Maui Invitational after losing their final game to Davidson on Wednesday.
Sophomore Caleb Grill scored 27 points, but the Rebels weren’t able to pick up their first win of the season.
