Jason Orts is a born-and-raised Texan who has more than a decade of experience covering high school sports there. The last six of those came as the high school sports coordinator at the Waco Tribune-Herald, where he also covered a myriad of Baylor University sports. Orts was the sports editor of the University Star at Texas State University prior to beginning his professional career.

Wyoming scored on the second play of the game and cruised to a victory over UNLV, dropping the Rebels to 0-5 in Marcus Arroyo’s first season as coach.
UNLV and Wyoming, two teams that understand how tenuous the situation is in the year of the coronavirus pandemic, will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Allegiant Stadium.
UNLV took last week’s game being canceled as an opportunity to get back to work on the practice field in advance of Friday’s game against Wyoming.
Freshman receiver Kyle Williams leads UNLV with 21 catches for 211 yards, and he scored his first touchdown last week against San Jose State.
Restrictions on youth sports in other states, especially California, have led to an influx of teams applying to play in the Mayor’s Cup at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex.
