Jason Orts is a born-and-raised Texan who has more than a decade of experience covering high school sports there. The last six of those came as the high school sports coordinator at the Waco Tribune-Herald, where he also covered a myriad of Baylor University sports. Orts was the sports editor of the University Star at Texas State University prior to beginning his professional career.
Nothing has come easily for Marcus Arroyo since he was named the 11th football coach in UNLV history in December. The Rebels open the season Oct. 24 against San Diego State.
UNLV officials would not disclose how many players were infected, but the team doctor said the positivity rate for all members of the program over the past two weeks was less than 2.5 percent.
UNLV will be featured on national TV broadcasts for seven of its eight football games — three on CBS Sports Network and four on Fox Sports networks.
The UNLV men’s basketball team will begin Mountain West play Dec. 29 at Colorado State. The Rebels’ nonconference schedule still is being finalized.
