Even after 20 years, 9/11 seems like yesterday to Frank Pizarro. Then a New York City firefighter, Pizarro was among the first responders who rushed to the World Trade Center as fire, smoke and ash filled the city streets and skies.
Better weather on Thursday helped the battle against a huge California forest fire threatening communities around Lake Tahoe.
Weeks after Las Vegas updated its branding with the motto “What Happens Here, Only Happens Here,” another more urgent slogan took hold: “Stay Home for Nevada.”
