Mark Anderson has been at the Review-Journal since January 1999. He covered UNLV football for 17 seasons before moving to the men’s basketball beat in January 2016, and was president of the Football Writers Association of America in 2016. Before coming to the R-J, he covered UNR football for five seasons at the Reno Gazette-Journal and was the high school sports reporter for the Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat from 1988-94. He is a native of Tallahassee and a graduate of the University of Florida.
Boise State is 1-5 in games decided by one possession or in overtime this season. The Broncos were 6-3 in such games last season when they had star player Chandler Hutchison.
James Baldwin III, a 27-year-old former minor league baseball player and a recent junior college defensive end and punter, has enrolled at UNLV where he will play football.

Running back Biaggio Ali Walsh, a Bishop Gorman graduate, has transferred from California to UNLV. He was named the Review-Journal’s male athlete of the year in 2016.
No 8 UNR took control from the beginning Tuesday, going on to rout UNLV 87-70. The loss spoiled what was the best atmosphere at the Thomas & Mack Center since Arizona visited early last season.
