Rhonda came to the RJ in September 2019 from the Idaho Statesman where she led newsroom investigations into sexual allegations against priests in the Boise diocese, improper handling of harassment complaints at the University of Idaho athletic department, the aftermath of a mass stabbing and a botched hiring of two high school coaches. She oversaw a 6-month project on efforts to save Northwest salmon, nominated for a regional Emmy award; and special coverage of growth impact in the Boise metro area. Previously, she was the digital content leader at the Kansas City Star and and has taught journalism at the University of Missouri School of Journalism and the Cronkite School at Arizona State University. She grew up in Phoenix and has a fondness for the desert.
