Lights FC hope to end use of controversial chant

The Lights FC successful preseason opener had one major issue. Certain fans used a chant that has anti-homosexual connotations. The club is hoping to end its use immediately. The chant has a history of use in Mexican soccer but has been condemned by FIFA. Lights owner Brett Lashbrook: “Of course it’s not permitted. Of course it’s not tolerated.”

Lights FC ready for preseason debut

The Lights FC will play its first preseason game Saturday at Cashman Field. The team will host Major League Soccer’s Montreal Impact at 8 p.m. Despite playing up a division, the team isn’t backing down from the challenge. Owner Brett Lashbrook: “We’re playing to win.” The team is expecting close to a sellout crowd as of Friday morning. Defender Zak Drake: “I’m very excited. It’ll be a good test for everything we’ve been training in preseason.”
