Sen. Dean Heller says he will support a bill constitutionally authorizing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Heller said he wanted any DACA fix to include elements like mandatory E-Verify and money for border security, but that he would vote for a clean bill if that was the fix offered.
Sen. Dean Heller wants to ensure the new Raiders’ stadium in Las Vegas is able to issue tax-exempt bonds. The Tax Cut and Jobs Act unveiled last week in the House of Representatives includes a provision that prevents professional sports stadiums from issuing tax-exempt bonds. Without an exemption, that change would alter the financing of the Raiders stadium.
Heller made his comments while appearing Wednesday on Nevada Politics Today.
Danny Tarkanian believes President Donald Trump wants him to beat Sen. Dean Heller in the Republican primary. Tarkanian isn’t counting on an endorsement, however, because he knows Trump needs Heller’s vote to pass legislative priorities.
Tarkanian made his comments Wednesday while filming Nevada Politics Today.
“I believe he (Trump) will want me to win,” said Tarkanian. “How much he’ll come out publicly or not, I don’t know that answer. But I’ll tell you this. There’s no way Dean Heller can get away from the fact that he was a Never Trumper in the last election.”

1. An employee at Fremont Middle School died of tuberculosis in July after potentially exposing hundreds to the disease. A school district employee identified the victim as Maria Alvarez, a special education teacher at the school. Ann Schiller, the school principal, sent a phone message to parents in July letting them know that children may be tested for TB. The Southern Nevada Health District says they’ve already screened 114 people in connection with the case.
2. Businessman and frequent Republican candidate Danny Tarkanian announced this morning that he will run for Dean Heller’s U.S. Senate seat in 2018. Tarkanian said that Heller has “turned his back” on Nevadans by campaigning one way in Nevada and voting a different way in Washington D.C. Tarkanian has run for office before: he lost races for secretary of state and the U.S. House and Senate.
3. A lucky slot player hit jackpot on a “Wheel of Fortune” machine Saturday. The jackpot was hit at the Palazzo and the total value was almost $727,000. For the 25-cent progressive game, $3 bet is required to win the jackpot.
