District Judge Douglas Herndon upheld his decision to dismiss murder charges against Death Row inmate Paul Browning. That decision came five months after an opinion from the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals found “a mixture of disturbing prosecutorial misconduct and woefully inadequate assistance of counsel” led to “extreme malfunctions” at Browning’s trial.
Nevada death row inmate Scott Dozier is dead. Dozier’s death ends his legal odyssey, which began in 2007 when he was convicted in the 2002 murder of Jeremiah Miller, but does little to clarify what’s next for Nevada’s death penalty.
