Police said the man fatally shot by an officer during a traffic stop in downtown Las Vegas had a “homemade knife.” Demontry Floytra Boyd, 43, died Saturday at University Medical Center from multiple gunshot wounds after officer Paul Bruning, 48, shot him during a traffic stop. Bruning pulled Boyd over on suspicion of driving recklessly at 7:41 a.m. near Sunrise Avenue and 18th Street.
Police evacuated a southeast valley shopping center Tuesday morning while they investigate a suspicious package. The package was reported about 6:30 a.m. at Paradise Marketplace at Flamingo and Sandhill roads. Metro’s explosives and hazardous materials team and members of the Las Vegas Fire Department are investigating. Police have blocked off Sandhill and Flamingo for the investigation.
