The call by March for Our Lives to ban semi-automatic assault weapons is a conversation starter, not a defined policy proposal. The country needs to talk about finding ways to end gun violence, but the NRA has blood on its hands for opposing gun-control legislation. That’s according to March for Our Lives creative director Jammal Lemy.

Las Vegas students, families and parents went to city hall during the March for Our Lives demonstration. Today’s rally is called attention to all types of gun violence including mass shootings, suicide and domestic violence. The crowd booed at the mention of Adam Laxalt in reference to Question 1, the Nevada Background Checks for Gun Purchases Initiative, on the 2016 ballot. “This fist represents hope. This fist represents change. This fist represents you as an ally,” said Denise Hooks.
