The 2019 Mountain West Media Days have officially wrapped up and one of the biggest news items to come out of the event was the preseason predicted order of finish. This season, UNLV was predicted to finish 5th in the West behind defending MW champs Fresno State, San Diego State, UNR and Hawaii. Rebel Nation host Cassie Soto and Rebels beat writer Mark Anderson discuss the predicted finish, as well as preview UNLV’s upcoming season.
Centennial point guard Taylor Bigby is one of the best freshmen in the country. She already has offers from four Division-I schools, including UNLV, Utah and Colorado. Bigby plays AAU basketball for Cal Sparks on Nike’s EYBL. She’s 6-feet tall, and is a gifted passer and shooter.
UNLV could have had its logo redesigned by Nike for free, but opted to pay almost $50,000 to use the Denver firm Adrenalin. The money was raised from private donations and didn’t come directly from UNLV. UNLV unveiled the logo in June, and it was met with overwhelming ridicule. Adrenalin has redesigned logos at other colleges and for pro teams, most notably the NFL’s Denver Broncos and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche. Even with all that work, the end result didn’t go over well when the logo was unveiled. It is noticeable in its absence at UNLV sporting events.
An attraction when it opened in 1998 near the Nevada-California state line, Primm’s outlet mall has fallen on hard times.
