Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s will advance to the West Coast Conference basketball tournament’s final, taking place at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday. Gonzaga defeated San Francisco, 81-77. Saint Mary’s defeated BYU, 51-50.
St. Mary’s head coach Randy Bennett and his players knew that if they played smart and set the tempo early, they could beat the number one team in the country. The Gaels did just that in a 60-47 victory over Gonzaga in the 2019 West Coast Conference tournament championship game on March 12.
