ToyFest takes place at the South Point Hotel and Casino from March 10-12. The toy trade show, sponsored by the Western Toy and Hobby Representatives Association, includes more than 400 booths featuring a variety of toys and new products. Attendees include toy manufacturers and store owners looking for new merchandise.

South Point is among few casino operators that still offer “cheap food, good odds,” says Anthony Curtis, a publisher of books on Las Vegas. The resort’s video poker slots return 99%, compared with about 96% or 97% on the Strip, according to Curtis. “Gaughan knows that you get them in the door with food and liquor and entertainment and you make a few bucks when they gamble,” says Ted Newkirk, founder of Access Vegas.
South Point is unique among Las Vegas resorts for its 4,600-seat equestrian arena.

Las Vegas police are searching for a woman who robbed the South Point casino cage at gunpoint Monday night. The woman walked up to the cage about 7:40 p.m., showed the teller a handgun and demanded cash, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. No one was injured in the robbery. She got away with an “indeterminate” amount of money, police said, and fled the casino in an older model 2-door gold or brown sedan with a black top and large chrome rims.
