On Thursday, radio host Leeann Tweeden accused Sen. Al Franken of kissing and groping her without her consent. Tweeden says the misdeeds happened in 2006 on a USO tour, and she posted a picture showing Franken grabbing her breasts while she slept on a military plane.
In 2015, 80 percent of Nevadans who paid an individual mandate tax penalty made under $50,000 a year. Thirty-nine percent made under $25,000.
Sen. Tick Segerblom is running for the Clark County Commission, District E, but he’s keeping one eye on the Clark County School District. Segerblom wants to increase both the sales and property taxes and have the county commission take control of the school board.
Segerblom made his comments while appearing on Nevada Politics Today.
“We need those extra resources that we just don’t have right now and that costs money,” said Segerblom of his desire to raise the sales tax in Clark County by one percent. “We cannot be held hostage by the rest of the state.”
The Secretary of State’s office has determined that the recall against Sen. Joyce Woodhouse, D- Henderson, has qualified. But Democrats believe the law gives them a window to go to voters who signed the petition and get those voters to withdraw the signatures.

Sen. Dean Heller says he will support a bill constitutionally authorizing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Heller said he wanted any DACA fix to include elements like mandatory E-Verify and money for border security, but that he would vote for a clean bill if that was the fix offered.

The best thing Gov. Brian Sandoval can do to preserve his legislative accomplishments is to quit defending them. Attorney General Adam Laxalt’s announcement Wednesday that he’s running to replace Sandoval as Governor made official what’s been obvious for months. It’s also obvious that Laxalt is more conservative than Sandoval.
On Monday, a pac chaired by Sen. Majority Leader Michael Roberson filed an initiative to amend Nevada’s constitution to prevent sanctuary cities. The initiative would prevent Nevada elected officials from enacting a law that “prohibits, limits or discourages cooperation” with the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. Sanctuary cities—or in California’s case, a sanctuary state—refuse to tell federal immigration authorities when they have arrested or are about to release an illegal immigrant.
CCSD Trustee Kevin Child vowed to continue visiting CCSD schools, despite Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky’s memo banning him from CCSD facilities. He said he had visited schools since the memo came out without incident.
“I’m going to go to schools,” said Child. “There’s got to be due process and I was never allowed due process. All it was, was that someone sent a memo out. To me, that creates a hostile work environment when you have no basis.”
