The rate for 1 to 2 hours will increase from $7 to $9. The rate for 2 to 4 hours will rise from $10 to $12. Bellagio, Aria and Vdara’s daily rate is rising to $18. Circus Circus, Luxor and Excalibur will see smaller bumps in pricing.

A math teacher at West Career and Technical Academy in Las Vegas has been arrested on child sex charges. Renee Rine, 36, was booked Friday into the Clark County Detention Center. She is being held without bail. She also faces charges of first-degree attempted kidnapping and contact with a minor or mentally-ill person. Rine is the ninth school district employee arrested during the current school year.
Las Vegas police are investigating a deadly shooting Monday morning in central Las Vegas. A man was found dead after 3 a.m. outside the Rancho Discount Mall at 2901 W. Washington Ave. The man had been shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have blocked off the parking lot in front of the store while detectives investigate. At 5 a.m., the man’s body was still on scene, laying on the walkway near a shopping cart and a pile of blankets.
Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal shooting Monday morning on the 4200 block of Calimesa Street.
An adult man was found in front of a house with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he died, according to Metropolitan Police Lt. David Gordon.
Homicide detectives also are investigating another deadly shooting that occurred a short time after the Calimesa Street shooting. A person was killed at 2901 W. Washington Ave.
Evan Weinstock is the first Las Vegan to represent the United States in the Winter Olympics. Weinstock was a standout football player at Del Sol High School. In college, he was a decorated decathlete at Brown University. After Brown, he took up bobsled and made the U.S. national team in his first year in the sport. Weinstock will compete in the two-man and four-man bobsled in South Korea next month.
The Las Vegas Lights FC are building their team differently than other USL clubs. Coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola is the only Mexican coach in the USL. Sola is using his reputation and connections to sign Mexican players the Lights feel other clubs are overlooking. Lights signees Joel Huiqui and Gerardo Lugo both said Sola was the main reason they came to the team. Both have experience with the Mexican national team. The Lights are hoping to add more players like them for their inaugural season.

Wynn is accused of pressuring employees to perform sex acts, the report said. “The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous” Steve Wynn’s statement to the WSJ The newspaper reported “a decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct.” The report included details of a $7.5 million settlement paid to a manicurist who complained about Wynn’s behavior.
Las Vegas police are investigating a Friday shooting that left a woman in the south valley dead.
Police believe her husband shot and killed her at a house on Giles Street. The shooter as of 1:30 a.m. remained on the loose and was considered armed and dangerous. A police helicopter circled the sky looking for the suspect. Neighbors could be seen peeking through window curtains as police secured the neighborhood and warned people to stay inside.
If a federal ban on sports betting is lifted in the coming months, the NBA wants sports books to pay the league 1 percent of the money wagered on its games as an “integrity fee.” An NBA official, assistant general counsel Dan Spillane, made the request in written testimony submitted Wednesday in support of the passage of a sports betting bill at New York’s Senate Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee hearing. For sports books, the “integrity fee” could be costly. The 1 percent fee amounts to more than 20 percent of sports book revenues, William Hill sports book CEO Joe Asher told the committee. “It’s a red herring when you call it an integrity fee. They want to be partners but they don’t want to appear to be partners. They’re saying they want to protect the integrity of the game by not having bookmaking. Now they want to be part of it. The Culinary union will ask Las Vegas casinos and hotels to supply guest room attendants with panic buttons amid national attention to the issue of workplace sexual harassment. The proposal is part of the union’s demands as it readies for talks for 50,000 of its 57,000 employees on a five-year contract with casinos next month, said Bethany Khan, a spokeswoman for Culinary Local 226. Panic buttons would allow guest room attendants to notify security if they are in an uncomfortable or threatening situation. The union will be renegotiating contracts with Caesars, MGM Resorts International and several downtown casinos starting in mid February.

The solar array is slated to go online within the next few months and will deliver enough renewable energy to power 5,056 homes and eliminate 33,734 metric tons of CO2 emissions from the environment annually.

Shortly before 6 a.m., a man was approached by two men in the parking lot of a Best Buy at 6950 Arroyo Crossing, near the 215 Beltway and South Rainbow Boulevard. Police said at least one of the two suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects forced the man into his car and made him drive to an ATM, where he withdrew an unknown amount of money for the suspects, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said. The two men then instructed the victim to drive to a convenience store at 4030 W. Charleston Blvd., where they told him to get out of his vehicle. Police said the suspects fled north on Hinson Street in the man’s car.

The Nevada Association of School Psychologists is arguing for better salaries and other strategies to attract and retain school psychologists. The Clark County School District, like other districts across the nation, faces a school psychologist shortage. One problem, according to experts: the lack of graduate preparation programs and awareness of the field itself.
