The Clark County Coroner’s office has released the cremated remains of Las Vegas Strip shooter Stephen Paddock. His brother, Eric Paddock, was unable to get the coroner’s office to deliver the remains to his home in Orlando, Florida. Eric Paddock flew to Las Vegas to meet with Coroner John Fudenberg. Fudenberg has not yet released an autopsy report to the family. Paddock said he plans to put the ashes in a bank’s safe deposit box.
A Las Vegas high school student has been indicted in the rapes of at least four classmates. Maysen Melton, 16, now attends Palo Verde High School. He attended Shadow Ridge High School at the time. Some of the charges involve attacks on school grounds. Melton reportedly knew each of the victims, whose ages ranged from 15 to 18. He also faces first-degree kidnapping charges. He faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted.
Three performers at last year’s Route 91 Harvest Festival will perform a tribute at this year’s Grammy Awards to honor the 58 people who were killed and the more than 500 who were wounded.
Eric Church, Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne will collaborate on a special performance at the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 28.
“There’s not a day that goes by since that day that I have not thought of it and thought of the people and the victims,” Church said.
The country artists will perform a classic Grammy-winning song, which hasn’t been announced.

A sexual harassment investigation forced out Patrick Moers as Henderson’s police chief last year, sources told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The city said his ouster had to do with mailers regarding the police foundation, and classified Moers’ departure as “voluntary.” But sexual harassment allegations against the Police Department aren’t limited to the investigation of Moers. Although no names were given, several police officers have said that sexual harassment is rampant throughout the department. Sources also told the Review-Journal that Assistant City Manager Greg Blackburn is the subject of a sexual harassment investigation in Henderson. Victimized Henderson employees won’t speak up for fear of losing their jobs, multiple sources told the Review-Journal. Lawyers with Las Vegas police said Tuesday that criminal charges related to the Oct. 1 shooting may be coming. Las Vegas police are investigating a Tuesday morning injury crash involving a man in his 20s and a Toyota sedan. The crash was reported at 4:45 a.m. at the intersection of Desert Inn Road and Valley View Boulevard.

The last time the company opened up to the public was May 2016. VHO has conducted about 200 runs with its hyperloop test track. In December, the company set a new speed record of 240 mph with the track.

A 31-year-old man died Wednesday night after crashing into the back of a double-decker Regional Transportation Commission bus on Flamingo Road near U.S. 95. None of the 11 people on the RTC bus were injured. The Nevada Highway Patrol said the driver of the sedan was believed to be impaired. The driver of the sedan was not wearing his seat belt, NHP spokesman Jason Buratczuk said, but he was sitting on his seat belt, which was buckled. The man’s death marks the fifth fatal crash NHP has investigated this year. In 2016 there were 60 fatal crashes on Nevada highways involving people who were not wearing seat belts, Buratczuk said.
A ‘Personality conflict’ is shaking up North Las Vegas City Hall. City Manager Qiong Liu is negotiating her resignation. It comes one day after she insisted on firing Assistant City Manager Ryann Juden amid long-simmering tensions. Mayor John Lee insisted Juden will not be fired. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over how to fund infrastructure projects at the Apex Industrial Park. Liu said appointing Juden was “the biggest mistake that I have made over the past 4-plus years leading the executive team.”
A three-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 95 will be narrowed to a single lane for seven months starting Thursday. Crews will be building freeway bridges in northwest Las Vegas.
Both directions of the highway will be reduced to one lane between Skye Canyon Park and Paiute drives from 5 a.m. Thursday to July 12.
Crews are building a new interchange bridge at Kyle Canyon Road as part of a larger $65 million upgrade of U.S. 95 in the northwest valley.

A firefighter was injured and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening when a fire broke out at a strip mall in the southwest Las Vegas Valley Monday night.
The fire was first reported at 10:52 p.m. on the 3400 block of Jones Boulevard, near Desert Inn Road, and as of 1:30 a.m. Tuesday firefighters and police were still at the scene. At least seven businesses were damaged, including a furniture store at the north end of the mall. The strip mall also houses several restaurants, including Fuku Burger, which was on the opposite end from where the fire broke out.
Fox Hill Park — Summerlin’s newest park — has been getting plenty of visitors since opening in mid-December. The “adventure play-themed” park offers 20 play structures, including a 32-foot climbing tower, a zip line, a giant climbing structure called The Orange Beast, a disc golf course, custom swings, a climbing fort and a spinning machine.
The House Ethics Committee has named a panel to investigate sexual harassment allegations against Democratic Rep. Ruben Kihuen. Several women alleged that Kihuen inappropriately touched them, or made unwanted and untoward comments and advances. Kihuen denied “the allegations in question” and said he was looking forward to working with the panel. The panel will include Rep. Kenny Marchant, R-Texas, Rep. Yvette D. Clarke, D-N.Y., Rep. A federal grand jury has heard testimony from witnesses in the FBI’s corruption investigation of Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Barlow. The investigation has focused on allegations the councilman received kickbacks from campaign funds he steered to consultants. Witnesses first appeared before the grand jury a few months ago, and the nearly 3-year-old investigation remains active, a knowledgeable source said. It is unclear how many witnesses have testified and whether federal prosecutors might be close to filing charges against Barlow.
