Desert Oasis’ baseball team edged visiting Bishop Gorman 9-8 on Monday in a key Southwest League game. Cole Schaefer induced a double-play grounder with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth to get the top-ranked Diamondbacks out of a jam. Chaison Miklich hit a two-run homer for Desert Oasis, which won despite walking 11 batters. Schaefer got the final five outs to earn a save and struck out Gorman’s John Gaughan with the potential tying run on base to end the game. The third-ranked Gaels host the Diamondbacks on Tuesday and Thursday to complete the Southwest League series.
