COMMENTARY: A two-part plan to solve the North Korean crisis

I wrote my advice to President Donald Trump right in this newspaper a month ago, urging him to pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Two weeks later, Trump pardoned Sheriff Joe. Bravo, Mr. President.

Now I’ll tackle the North Korean crisis.

I believe I have a unique two-pronged attack plan that won’t cost a single American life. Actually, it promises to save innocent North Korean lives, too. It’s a powerful one-two punch that doesn’t require a single bomb or bullet.

Part I: Send American bombers to drop pamphlets over North Korea — millions of pamphlets. Drop them on the North Korean people like a blizzard of snow. The intent? To scare the hell out of their citizens, who have no access to outside news.

These pamphlets will look like a real newspaper. Imitate The New York Times with headlines that say: “America is coming. We are going to nuke your country. Millions will die a horrifying death like Hiroshima — times 1,000. We are going to turn your country into radioactive rubble … There is another option. Overthrow your leader, or run for your lives. Head to China. Leave now or die. There is no other direction to run. You are not welcome in South Korea. Anyone trying to enter South Korea will be shot.”

The people of North Korea are cut off from the outside world. They are brainwashed with propaganda 24/7. But deep down, they know the truth. They know they have no food, no freedom. And they certainly know America is the most powerful nation on Earth and can crush North Korea in a New York minute.

Trust me, I played football. Coaches are powerful. They can brainwash you with confidence and false hope — until you see the bigger opponents run onto the field. Then, in an instant, the truth soaks in. You realize you’re no match, and you’re about to lose 70-7. It happens every week on a football field.

Chaos and hysteria are waiting just below the surface in the subconscious of every North Korean. Their leader may talk big and bold, but deep down the North Korean people are scared to death. They fear America will come to destroy their country.

When they see those warnings from big bad America, all the brainwashing will melt away in seconds. All the false bravado will disintegrate. Mass hysteria will ensue.

They will run for their lives toward China.

No army — no matter how big or brutal — can stop this kind of hysteria and mass exodus. We can turn North Korea into chaos without firing a bullet.

Why send them running toward China? Because that creates a national crisis for China. China’s leaders will be forced to take action immediately. They will do our dirty work for us. They will be forced to take Kim Jung-un out.

Part II: Our president is brilliant and bold. I sat down to write this second part when it was announced by our U.N. ambassador, Nikki Haley, that Trump is threatening almost this exact game plan. It’s so simple. Inform China they have two choices. Trade with America or trade with North Korea. But they can no longer do both.

Until they remove Kim Jung-un from office, America will cut off all trade with China. Try to sell your goods to 25 million starving North Koreans instead of 330 million prosperous Americans. Good luck.

Trump knows he has China between a rock and a hard place. What can China do? Chinese officials don’t want millions of starving North Koreans at their border. Too many mouths to feed.

They can’t lose America as a trading partner. Their own country would destabilize and starve. They’d have unrest, rioting and a coup on their hands. And they can’t go to war with America. No one goes to war with the consumer that buys all your products.

Watch China remove Kim Jung-un in a week.

Problem solved without a bomb or bullet, or risking one American life.
