Sip a Sazerac
Get into the Mardi Gras mood with a classic New Orleans favorite — the Sazerac cocktail — at the Monkey Bar at SLS Las Vegas. A mix of George Dickel Rye Whisky, Pernod Absinthe, Peychaud’s Bitters and your choice of simple syrup or a sugar cube, it’s $13 and available through Tuesday.
New Orleans dinner
It’s fitting that New Orleans would be the featured “destination” for Tuesday’s Culinary Road Trip at Freedom Beat at the Downtown Grand. The dinner will start with a hurricane cocktail and move on to crispy oysters and boudin balls, a duo of soft-shell crab and andouille sausage po’boys with okra fries, rabbit jambalaya and Mile High Pie, with beverage pairings. The 6:30-to-8 p.m. dinner is $38 ($48 for all-you-can-drink); go to eventbrite.com.
Big Easy buffet
The Seasons Buffet at the Silverton will add Creole- and Cajun-inspired items Tuesday in honor of Mardi Gras. Available from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., they’ll include oysters on the half shell, a crawfish boil, shrimp po’boy, blackened catfish, Cajun fried turkey and king cake.
Gumbo
Enjoy $5 gumbo throughout February at House of Blues and Mandalay Bay. Voodoo shrimp, jambalaya and shrimp Po’boys are also available.
Cajun Nachos
Nacho Daddy locations downtown and at The Linq Hotel are serving Cajun nachos with blackened shrimp, andouille sausage, creole pepper sauce, melted cheddar jack cheese and queso with a Cajun remoulade sauce and green onions on top of Mardi Grad corn.
