Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in central Las Vegas

Updated March 23, 2018 - 9:51 pm

A 90-year-old man was killed Friday while crossing a central valley street, Las Vegas police said.

He was hit by an SUV about 12:25 p.m. near the intersection of West Charleston Boulevard and Brush Street, close to South Decatur Boulevard.

A 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe was turning left from southbound Brush Street onto eastbound Charleston Boulevard when it hit the man, who was crossing Charleston within a crosswalk. He died at the scene.

The SUV driver, a 78-year-old woman, remained on scene and didn’t appear impaired.

The man’s death marked the 25th traffic death investigated by Metro this year.

Charleston Boulevard was closed in both directions near the crash site but has since reopened.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the man’s identity once his family is notified.
