Pedestrian dies in western Las Vegas Valley crash

Updated April 8, 2018 - 9:51 am

A 78-year-old man was killed Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

Police said a 2002 Honda Accord hit the pedestrian shortly after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Mead and Rampart boulevards, just west of Scholar Lane. The man, who was crossing Lake Mead Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk, died at the scene of the crash.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s investigation revealed that the Honda was heading east on Lake Mead Boulevard when the front of the car hit the man. The 36-year-old driver remained at the scene of the crash and called 911, police said.

The man’s death marked the 33rd traffic-related fatality investigated by Metro this year. He will be identified by the Clark County coroner once his family has been notified.
