More than moshing planned for Punk Rock Bowling
Punk Rock Bowling is already a breathless blur.
With more than 12 hours of music each day between shows at the festival grounds downtown and nearby clubs, pool parties, poker tournaments, comedy shows and even karaoke sessions, it’s hard to fathom how festival organizers could shoehorn even more activities into the packed weekend, which takes place May 23-26 this year.
And yet they have, announcing the screening of a series of punk rock documentaries at Backstage Bar & Billiards from Saturday, May 24, through Monday, May 26.
The movies will be shown at noon each day and are free (also, free popcorn!).
Just try and find a set behind someone not sporting a view-obstructing mohawk.
The film lineup:
Saturday, “Bloodied But Unbowed”: A look at the late ’70/early ’80s punk scene in Vancouver featuring D.O.A., Pointed Sticks, the Young Canadians and others.
Sunday, “Filmage”: The story of the Descendents (who are playing the festival that night) and All (who are performing at the Fremont County Club the night before) as told by drummer Bill Stevenson.
Monday, “Let Them Know”: A chronicle of Youth Brigade and BYO Records, whose principles are the organizers behind Punk Rock Bowling.
