See a movie, talk to Penn and Teller
March 14, 2014 - 10:23 am
Penn and Teller are no strangers to question-and-answer sessions.
They participated in several of them while on the festival circuit with their documentary, “Tim’s Vermeer.”
In the acclaimed film, which Teller directed, Penn Jillette narrated and they both executive produced, Texas inventor Tim Jenison sets out to prove he’s solved the 350-year-old mystery of how Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer so brilliantly captured light by creating an exact replica of Vermeer’s “The Music Lesson” despite having zero experience as a painter.
“The most-asked question before the screening is, ‘Will Penn & Teller be there for the Q-and-A afterwards?’ ” Jillette says. “And the most-common question asked after the screening is, ‘Why are Penn & Teller here?’ ”
After seeing “Tim’s Vermeer,” he says, moviegoers only want to know more about Jenison.
But that isn’t stopping the duo from hosting yet another Q-and-A, this time at 10:30 p.m. Friday following the 9:10 p.m. screening at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.
