‘Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody’ disciplining audiences

Do you laugh at “Fifty Shades of Grey” at your own peril?

Does anybody who dare scoff at the steamy novel deserve, hmm, a little discipline?

You can ask Dakota Johnson or Charlie Hunnam, who took something of an Internet beating after they were cast as the leads in the upcoming film version; Hunnam even dropped out of the movie project, citing an “immersive TV schedule” which did not allow adequate time to prepare.

But the Golden Nugget offers a safe refuge for scoffers, smirkers and snickerers with “Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody.”

Writer-director Jim Millan drew upon his sketch comedy background to whip up the musical parody that briefly played at the Rio about this time last year.

If these entendres have you feeling left out, Millan assured last year that you don’t have to read the book to get the show.

“It’s about the nature of female escapist fantasy literature, and that includes lots of films,” he said.

“Whether it’s the desire to be swept up in a relationship with a dark prince or a sparkly vampire, all of this is so pop culture now. You have enough information to get all the jokes.”
