NORTH LAS VEGAS RECREATION DIVISION ANNOUNCES HEALTH CAMPAIGN
The North Las Vegas Recreation Division has announced its "Get Moving! Get Healthy!" campaign, which aims to encourage healthy exercise and social activities through the division's programs and sports.
Each month, the Recreation Division will launch an online video highlighting a recreational, social or sports program offered at Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane, or Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St.
Featured first is the Recreation Division's martial arts class offerings. The campaign also will highlight activities from its Social Seniors and after-school programs.

SOBE ICE ARENA HOME TO HOCKEY FOR HEROES EVENT
The SoBe Ice Arena at the Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, is set to hold its 10th annual Armed Services Hockey Association Hockey for Heroes event Thursday through Sunday. Twenty-two teams from around the world made up of members of the military, police and fire will compete nearly 24 hours daily, but there will be breaks.

PROJECT D.I.R.T. CAMPING EVENT PLANNED
Project D.I.R.T. tent camping for those 22 or older with developmental disabilities is planned from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road. Advance registration is required. The cost is $30 per person and includes meals and a tent. Bring your own sleeping bag. For more information, call 702-229-8100.
PARALYMPIC FREE SPORT ACTIVITY NIGHT SCHEDULED FOR NOV. 14
A paralympic sport free activity night for kindergartners through grade 12 is planned from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 at Rancho High School, 1900 Searles Ave. Register at the main school entrance.

NEW A.G.E. EVENTS FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES PLANNED
New A.G.E. for those 22 or older with developmental disabilities is set from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive. The program offers a variety of activities and special events that promote individuality, self-esteem and independence. The cost is $21 for one to three days, $28 for four days and $35 for five days each week.

LEISURE CONNECTION SOCIAL GROUP OUTINGS PLANNED EACH MONTH
Leisure Connection for those 22 or older with developmental disabilities is a social group planned each month. The outings are geared to assist high-functioning adults with social skills and independence in the community. Activities include bowling, movies, lunch/dinner outings, sports events and leisure education classes. SOCCER LEAGUE'S 2013 SEASON EARLY SIGN-UPS PLANNED

GEICO ENDUROCROSS SET FOR NOV. 17 AT ORLEANS ARENA
The GEICO EnduroCross high-octane racing event is set for 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Orleans Arena, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
Introduced to the United States in 2004 as a single, stand-alone event, the Maxxis National EnduroCross grew to a three-round series in 2007. To celebrate its success in 2008, GEICO EnduroCross expanded to a six-round series playing to key markets across the United States. For 2012, EnduroCross has expanded to eight rounds, including ESPN's X Games. Top off-road racers from the United States and Europe are scheduled to participate.

RUNNERS INVITED TO RUN FOR A CAUSE
The MS Run the US 2013 Relay, which is slated for April 16 through Sept. 17, 2013, and will be divided into 22 segments, is seeking 14 running partners to take part in each leg of this coast-to-coast run. Each segment covers approximately 140 miles of running over six days. All proceeds raised will support multiple sclerosis research.
The relay is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in mid-April and wrap up in New York City five months later. In between, participants will take on a 140-mile leg of the cross-country journey, where they will run approximately 20 to 30 miles daily over five to six days. Only 14 slots are available.
Recruiting will continue through Dec. 31.

CITY MAKES REGISTRATION FOR RECREATION PROGRAMS EASIER
The city of Las Vegas has launched its new online registration system, RecTrac, which offers customers an easy way to participate in recreation activities, city sports leagues and Safekey.
By visiting recreation.lasvegas nevada.gov, customers can browse listings as a guest or log on as a registered user to enroll in programs and activities offered by the city. Customers can also call 702-229-2330 or come into a recreation center to register and pay during normal business hours. Safekey payments can be made online, by phone at 702-229-3399 or at the Safekey main office, 1651 S. Buffalo Drive.
Programs and activities that require prerequisites or age verification may not be eligible for online registration.
Those who already have an account through the city's previous online registration system will need to use the phone number they gave when they opened the account for the user name. The password will be the primary account holder's last name. Those needing to open a new account should follow the instructions on the website.

FAMILY SWIM DAY SCHEDULED
A "Souper" Family Swim Day is planned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road. This all-ages event involves canned food donations in order to receive a free pool open swim day pass. Regular fees apply without a donation. For more information, call 702-229-6309.
ADAPTIVE RECREATION PROGRAM PLANNED FOR THOSE 7 TO 21
The Lorenzi Adaptive Recreation Program for those ages 7 to 21 with disabilities is set from 1 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. Participants can enjoy a new recreation experience every week, community outings, sports, games, arts and crafts, swimming and movies. The cost is $27 for one to three days, $36 for four days and $45 for five days, per person. It is closed today, Monday and Nov. 22-23.

WHEELCHAIR ACTIVITIES OFFERED AT FREMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wheelchair athletes open gym and wheelchair basketball practice for those ages 14 to adult is available from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Fremont Middle School, 1100 E. QUAD RUGBY PRACTICE OFFERED WEEKLY

GIRLS ON THE RUN OF LAS VEGAS SEEKS TEAM MEMBERS
Girls on the Run of Las Vegas is looking to start a team of girls in third through fifth grade in northwest Las Vegas and Summerlin. The group forwards a youth development program, where girls meet twice a week for discussions regarding empowerment, self-confidence and healthy living. The group incorporates stretching, games and running during that time. At the end of the 12-week program, the entire Las Vegas chapter gets together for a 5K race.
Between eight and 15 girls are needed to form a team.
