Taylor and trio to play Winchester Center

The Las Vegas Jazz Society presents singer and pianist Shelly Taylor and her trio at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

Taylor will be accompanied by Kenny Clark, saxophone; Blaise Sison, bassist; and Jess Gopen, percussion. The quartet will perform music from the great American songbook and a set featuring classic arrangements from the 1960s.

Tickets are $17 for general admission, $12 for students and seniors and $8 for Jazz and Guitar Society members.

Talent search winners at Reed Whipple

Winners in three age categories will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday during the Search for Talent Winners' Showcase at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

KLAS-TV, Channel 8 reporter Carol Wilkinson will host the event, and up-and-coming R&B and pop artists Flavaz, Keisha Christylee Liu, Erika Alise Robinson and Lum Ya Letrice "Lonnie" Brady also will appear.

Primary division winners include vocalists Karley Cyriacks, Ashlyn May, Carly Renner and Kailey Swanson. Junior winners are vocalists Malia Civetz and Brooke Solan, pianist Heidi Kimbrough, and hip-hop dancers Shaina Krashin, Sarah Larabi and Isabel Teuton. Senior winners are vocalists Chelsea Sykora and Briana Torralva, guitarist/vocalist Kirsten Neill, and pianist/vocalist Lynda DeFuria.
