CHEFS FOR KIDS TO HOST DINNER AND AUCTION MARCH 29

Chefs for Kids plans to host a dinner and auction at 5:30 p.m. March 29 at Paris Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South, to honor program supporters Gae and Perry Basch.

A reception and silent auction are planned, with a gourmet dinner to be served at 7 p.m. with a live auction. Dave Courvoisier, KLAS-TV anchor, is the scheduled master of ceremonies, and Christian Kolberg is to conduct the live auction. The evening will continue with dancing to the music of Harbor Lights.

The program is a joint venture of the American Culinary Federation Chefs of Las Vegas and the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. It works to eliminate malnutrition and hunger through education and awareness. The event is black tie optional.

DB BRASSERIE TO OPEN IN MAY AT THE VENETIAN

Contemporary French restaurant DB Brasserie is scheduled to open in May inside The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The restaurant’s opening will mark chef Daniel Boulud’s return to Las Vegas, and the menu is planned to stay true to his signature French-American cooking and modern sensibility. Signature dishes include poissons fumes, poulet croustillant and The Original DB Burger. A wine program with about 300 international selections is planned.

The space will seat 280, including two private dining rooms and a casual bar and lounge.

PALMS OPENS BACK ROOM BURGER

The Palms, 4700 W. Flamingo Road, recently opened a poolside burger restaurant, Back Room Burger. The concept is the creation of a collaboration of chefs from the Palms and N9NE Steakhouse, which puts a twist on classic American favorites and features sides, craft beer and alcoholic or non-alcoholic custard shakes.

Signature burgers include Mexicali Blues ($11) with cotija cheese, chipotle salsa, grilled scallions, guacamole and sour cream. Low-carb style is available. Sides include sweet potato fries served with Fresno chili and apricot ketchup and Blue Cheese & Bacon Fries ($8).

UNLVINO TO CELEBRATE 40 YEARS APRIL 9-12

UNLVino is scheduled for April 9-12, the wine event’s 40th anniversary. The 2014 Great Vegas Festival of Beer is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. (early entry and VIP entry at 3 p.m.) April 26 in the Fremont East Entertainment District in downtown Las Vegas.
