Dining Pick of the Week: Viet Bistro

Viet Bistro

7175 W. Lake Mead Blvd., Suite 125, 702-463-0009

If you crave traditional Vietnamese cuisine in a no-frills, intimate setting, Viet Bistro should be on your list of destinations for lunch or dinner, particularly if you’re in the mood for pho. The family-owned bistro’s menu has no shortage of choices — 15, to be exact — when it comes to the Vietnamese rice noodle soup. At Viet Bistro, it’s served with a choice of vegetable or beef broth and comes in two sizes: regular or extra large. Meat eaters can sink their teeth into the special combination pho, which includes sliced eye round, well-done brisket, well-done flank steak, beef tendon, tripe and beef meatballs. The tofu and vegetables pho, meanwhile, includes bok choy, onions, broccoli and carrots. Pho orders come with a side dish of bean sprouts, raw jalapeno slices, fresh basil and a lemon wedge. Other menu items include beverages, rice dishes, rice vermicelli bowls and eight choices of Vietnamese sandwiches, which come with a pickle, onion, jalapeno, cilantro and mayonnaise and a side of soup. The 3-year-old eatery also offers various appetizers, ranging from tamarind fried chicken wings to three types of fresh spring rolls. For dessert, patrons can order the three-color drink, which features a combination of bean, jelly and coconut milk served with crushed ice. Menu prices average less than $10. Viet Bistro is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
