Eatery at Town Square offers meatballs and more

Chef Carla Pellegrino says her latest restaurant venture is designed to be comfortable for all ages.

"We want Meatball Spot to be an affordable place, a hangout, where people can get fresh food and everyone feels welcome," she says. "A family can eat here with children, and adults can come to the bar and watch a game."

The restaurant is placed in a good spot to attract a crowd, opposite the Rave Theater in Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South. There is seating for 288 people, including an outdoor dining area for 140.

As for the food, Pellegrino says: "This is Brooklyn Italian food, American Italian. We want to keep it simple and, at the same time, serve food tailored to individual tastes so, for example, patrons can choose from several sauces and kinds of meatballs."

Meatball spot is open from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Salads: house salad with mixed greens ($6.95 half-size/$9.95 full size); panzanella salad with homemade croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, capers, feta cheese, herb vinaigrette ($6.95/$10.95); spinach and fennel salad with onions, orange segments, pine nuts, citrus vinaigrette ($6.95/$10.95); garbage salad with romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, salami, pepperoni, mozzarella, provolone, croutons, herb vinaigrette ($7.95/$13.95)

Meatball entrees: pork, beef, chicken, turkey, vegetarian or classic, a blend of beef, veal and pork; with a choice of sauce, classic tomato, spicy meat sauce, Parmesan cream, pesto or mushroom gravy and toasted French bread ($7.95). Add melted mozzarella or provolone or a fried egg ($1.50).

Sides: rigatoni or spaghetti with choice of sauce, mac and cheese, truffled white beans and pancetta, risotto of the day, garlic mashed potatoes ($5.95 each)

Sandwiches: meatball burger with tomato, onion and pickles on brioche bun ($7.95); meatball hero, three meatballs on a baguette with choice of sauce ($7.95); meatball slider, one meatball on brioche with choice of sauce ($3.95)

Pizza: half-tray, eight slices, ($10.95); full tray, 16 slices ($19.95); oversized slice ($5.95); toppings include meatball, pepperoni, bacon, spinach, artichoke, anchovy, extra cheese ($1.50 each on half-tray, $3 each on full tray and $1 each on slice)

Desserts: ice cream sandwiches, including bananas Foster, peanut butter cup, strawberry ($5.95 each); gelato, sorbet and ice cream in a variety of flavors ($2.50 per scoop); specialty milkshakes, including birthday cake with vanilla cake, cupcake syrup, sprinkles, vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream, sprinkles ($6.95); cookie explosion with Oreo cookie crumbles, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce and caramel, vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream, Oreo cookie crumbles ($6.95)
