I Love Burgers offers adventure in a familiar way

While the Las Vegas food scene offers a plethora of fine-dining options, haute cuisine can sometimes be too expensive and too adventurous for the average diner.

Enter the burger, the perfect vehicle for introducing new foods in a comforting and familiar way.

That's the approach they take at I Love Burgers in the Palazzo, 3255 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The restaurant, which opened earlier this year, is devoted to delivering a sublime burger experience with a few twists, says Zach Conine, vice president of research analytics and development for LEV restaurant group, which owns I Love Burgers. The group also operates all Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Jamba Juice outlets in the valley.

"It seems like burgers are very popular," Conine says. "It's a food that everyone's comfortable with, but it can also serve as a vehicle for trying new things."

Some of those new things: a bun made of the popular Asian vegetable taro root, a patty made of beef and bacon, and, soon, a bun made with bacon.

The burger accompaniments also offer a chance for experimentation, Conine says. Milkshakes aren't just milkshakes at I Love Burgers, they are kitchen concoctions. The caramel corn shake, made of ice cream, caramel, sea salt and corn puree, tastes just like caramel popcorn.

Perhaps the restaurant's piece de resistance, Conine says, is the blueberry panshake. It's like eating blueberry pancakes in liquid form. The shake is made with a fresh blueberry pancake, ice cream, blueberries, milk and Vermont maple syrup.

The dining room, which seats 175, has a reimagined '50s vibe to it. Reservations are not necessary.

I Love Burgers is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. until midnight Fridays and Saturdays.
