Galactic’s late-night gigs will serve up New Orleans’ favorites

So you like your March Madness with a chaser of New Orleans funk?

Galactic moves into the Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday night for an ambitious 12-show run through April 12, which will get you well past the NCAA Tournament if not quite to Easter.

The six-piece outfit brings the French Quarter to any town with its high-octane instrumental blend of jazz, funk and R&B. It appeals to both traditionalists, as evidenced by the Big Easy essentials of its last studio album, “Carnivale Electricos,” but expands that sound with electronic rhythms and a psychedelic, trip-hop sensibility.

Galactic’s party-for-grown-ups vibe is a definitive mission statement for the new Brooklyn Bowl. But the midnight shows will be the first real acid tests of whether grown-ups will stay out that late. Bon temps. That’s what naps are for.
