‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 starts sooner than you think

LOS ANGELES — “Game of Thrones” is coming.

HBO revealed Thursday that the 10-episode fifth season of “Game of Thrones” will return on April 12. The pay cable made the announcement at the Television Critics Assn. in Pasadena.

“Silicon Valley” and “Veep” each return with new, 10-episode seasons on the same date.

HBO also announced the renewal of “Real Time With Bill Maher” for its 14th and 15th seasons, scheduled for 2016 and 2017.

“This extension of our partnership guarantees that Bill will continue to offer his fearless insights through the next presidential election season, when his irreverent wit is sure to be needed more than ever,” Lombardo said.

Maher added, “Luckily for me, American politicians never give it a rest, so every season is an election season.”

Also returning to HBO is “Vice” with its third season, premiering on Mar. 6.

HBO original documentary “Sinatra: All Or Nothing At All” will air over two-nights.

The four-hour presentation, directed by Alex Gibney and exec produced by Frank Marshall, celebrates the 100th year since Frank Sinatra’s birth, and will focus on his first 60 years. At the TCA panel, Gibney said the documentary does not feel glitzy, but is rather intimate and personal. No premiere date has been set.
