Inflammatory Izzy Cox brings hot tunes to town

She brands herself an anarchist crooner of the voodoobilly jazz persuasion.

What does that mean?

Well, for Austin’s Izzy Cox, said description is a means of characterizing her wide-ranging sound in a way that’s as all-over-the-place as her music itself, which is a mutant strain of backwoods blues, deep Americana and old, old-school country.

In a big, unbridled voice wild as the impulses she frequently gives in to, Cox sings of being a bad, bad girl and setting other people’s houses on fire.

Let’s see if she does the same to the Double Down.
