With the monthly information dump of new Netflix titles, plenty of little-seen movies and TV shows will go unnoticed.
After all, your eyes will naturally gravitate to what you know: “Transformers: Age of Extinction” (available June 14), “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” (June 16), “Nightcrawler (June 10), “Scandal: Season 4” (June 13), “Orange Is the New Black: Season 3” (June 12) and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 2” (June 11) to name a few.
But here’s a look at some of the smaller titles, even smaller than Jennifer Aniston’s “Cake” (June 20) and Jon Stewart’s directorial debut, “Rosewater” (June 10):
“Hidden Kingdoms” (available now): Narrated by Stephen Fry, this three-part nature documentary looks at life from the point-of-view of some of the world’s tiniest creatures.
“The High and the Mighty” (available now): John Wayne plays against type as a pilot, haunted by a plane crash, on a troubled flight from Honolulu to San Francisco.
“The Legend” (June 11): Jet Li portrays Chinese folk hero Fong Sai-yuk in this 1993 comedy from director Corey Yuen. The sequel, “The Legend 2,” also hits Netflix on June 11.
“Champs” (June 12): Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Bernard Hopkins are the focus of this boxing documentary.
“Two Days, One Night” (June 16): Marion Cotillard earned her second Oscar nomination for this tale of a woman who learns she’s about to be fired and must persuade her co-workers to give up their bonuses to save her job.
“What Happened, Miss Simone?” (June 26): This Netflix original documentary showcases Nina Simone through rare concert footage and interviews with her daughter, friends and collaborators.
